“Come on you… Pinks”

This is not a football chant you hear very often, with most clubs sticking to traditional colours like red and blue.

But Bridlington-based artfuldodgerny.com FC is stepping out on to the field this season in a shade you would normally find on a baby’s bonnet.

It is not a fashion statement, but a gesture of support and to raise the profile of the Trust.

Manager Jamie Clarke told the Bridlington Free Press “I’ve got to say that the team were not particularly happy about the colour originally.

They weren’t too sure how the opposing teams would react but now they love it and wouldn’t be without it.

We are playing in the County Premier League now and some of the teams we meet are tough to say the least, but when they realise the cause they are great about it and comment positively at every game.”

Jamie added “I have known Julie and Mick for many years. I used to work with Mick and his late brother Ricky Walker and my wife Jo worked with his wife Cheryl, so we know the family.”

I approached Mick and Julie at the end of last season to ask if they would allow our team to endorse and support the charity. They were very excited about it as it raises the profile of the charity while doing something young and fun in Katie’s name.

Artful Dodger is a multi-million dollar fashion label set up by Bridlington born designer Scott Langton who is now living in America. He not only sponsors the football team but donated the kit, had the team bus sign written and has supported the team.

The Trust would like to thank Jamie and the football team for their support and Scott Langton for supplying the team kit and agreeing to have the trust on the front of the shirts. We have the pink wristbands, which we sell for the trust, but having a football team with pink shirts is something else.
