Katie Walker Cancer Trust Fund

This fund has been recently set up in the memory of one special girl who made a difference to so many young cancer sufferers and touched many others. The inspirational story of her battle with cancer provided strength and courage to many and the aim is to continue this trend even though she is no longer with us.

Katie being the unique girl she was always thought about others first, with one main goal being to help other terratoma and teenage cancer sufferers and to ensure that she was remembered for years to come for having a positive effect in people's lives.

Due to the rarity of this diagnosis, research into the disease is limited, thus with this fund we aim to provide funds for international consensus of this disease and Teenage Germ Cell Cancers. We aim to provide the information that is required to give Teenage Cancers a better outcome.

Further more with this fund we are also helping Children and Teenagers in the Yorkshire Coast Area. Money may seem unimportant when a child is diagnosed with cancer. Yet, as well as coping with the emotional stress, many families soon find that cancer brings financial strain too. Unpaid leave from work, after school care for siblings and travel are the most common costs.

That’s why we offer Grants to help with immediate financial needs. Any family with a child or young person (aged 24 or under) who is receiving treatment for cancer or palliative care is welcome to apply. We’re committed to helping everyone in the Yorkshire Coast Area who needs us, so we don’t use means testing.
