Hayley is top of the fashion stakes
Hayley Spiers, 23, was stopped by TV presenter and celebrity
stylist Gemma Cairney on the high streets of Leeds recently
with a friend.
Gemma was working undercover in Leeds as the Impulse Style
Hunter in search of the best-dressed girls on Britain’s
high streets.
Hayley was picked alongside four other girls as Gemma thought
not only did they wear great outfits, but they also put Leeds
on the fashion map.
All five girls, including Hayley, went through to the public
vote via the Facebook fan page and Hayley was crowned regional
winner after polling the most votes – achieving regional
style queen status and also winning £250 of high street
vouchers.
Hayley then went on to a heat-to-head with winners from the
other Style Hunter locations – Manchester, London and
Birmingham.
Hayley was crowned the overall winner and received £750
of vouchers to splash out on the new season’s hottest
collections. Kind hearted Hayley who went to school with Katie
decided not to spend the vouchers on herself but to donate
them to the charity for raffle prizes. A massive thank you
to Hayley from Katie Walker Cancer Trust for her very generous
donation.

Bungee Jump
On the 1st February 2009, Helen and Dean left to go travelling
around Australia. After being there for 7 months they decided
that while they were in Cairns they would complete a Bungy
Jump to raise money for Katie Walker Cancer Trust. Helen had
always wanted to do a bungy jump and Dean had always said
he wouldn't do one, so they came to a compromise they would
do a TANDEM. On the 14th September they were taken to the
Cairns Smithfield Tower bungy site which is 50m/164ft high
and looks out over Cairns, it was then when the reality of
what they were about to do kicked in, but they were determined
to do it for Katie. After climbing to the top, Helen was a
little nervous but more excited, whereas Dean was petrified,
they were strapped in and Dean went as white as a sheet and
then that was that - THEY DID IT. After completing the tandem
they made the decision to go a second time each but this time
individually and backwards and again completed they both completed
the bungy.
In total Helen and Dean have raised £494.33 for Katie
Walker Cancer Trust.

Mount Meru and Kilamanjaro Trek
Sharon Marshall left her home in Sheffield on 28 September
2008 and began with the ascent of Mt Meru which is 4566m (14,976ft)
high which acted as the warm up for the big event of Kilimanjaro
which is 5894m high and the "Roof of Africa". The
trip involved 11 days of demanding trekking through game park.
bamboo forest, moorland, volcanic craters as well as the glaciers
at the summit of Kilimanjaro itself. She stayed mainly in
a tent
Its was basically the equivalent to climbing Scarfell Pike
every day for 11 days, except on the last day, when she set
off at about 1am in the morning to reach the summit of Kilimanjaro
and Sunrise before making the descent right back down to the
bottom - around 15 hours trekking in one day!!!.
She is paid for the trip herself and therefore all the sponsorship
raised is making it directly into Katie's research fund. If
there are any corporate sponsors out there who still would
like to contribute, we are willing to hear from them
